GAPP - Global Awareness Partnership Project PDF Print

What is GAPP?
The Global Awareness Partnership Project is a way of finding out about International issues through fun activities. Aimed at Explorers & Network, NOT Leaders.

How can I take part?
There's a weekend event planned for Friday 28th to Sunday 30th November 08 -  It's been discounted to only £15 as we have received substantial funding from the Department for International Development. There are members of the UK GAPP team coming to lead events and join in the fun. It's taking place at Lapwing Lodge (near Paisley).

What's the plan for the weekend?
You can arrive from 7:30pm on the Friday night for fun activities. The event proper kicks off from 9 am on Saturday (registering on Saturday between 8 & 9) with activities (mainly indoor) happening on Saturday am, Saturday pm and Sunday am. On Saturday night we'll have an international themed party. We'll wind up at 3pm on Sunday.

What do I get for my money?
Accommodation all weekend. Food is provided from Saturday breakfast through to Sunday lunch including some party refreshments and a Fair Trade Feast on Saturday evening!!! You'll also get resources to take away with you to run GAPP as part of your local network (or other section) programme.

Is there a catch?
Not really. The principle behind GAPP is one of peer education. By the end of the weekend we hope you'll have gained some of the skills to be able to run some GAPP activities locally.

What do I need?
Activity dress, indoor shoes, outdoor clothes (for activities - weather permitting), sleeping bag.

How do I apply?
Fill in the application form (contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for a copy) and send it to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Then print and post it with a cheque for £15 payable to 'The Scout Association' to Scottish Scout Headquarters, Fordell Firs, Hillend, Dunfermline, Fife, KY11 7HQ
